Prumnopitys montana is a species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae. It is a tree native to Colombia, Ecuador, northern Peru, and northwestern Venezuela. It grows up to 30 metres tall, and is dioecious or rarely monoecious and capable of producing cones at any time of the year. It grows in Andean montane moist forests and high-elevation shrubland from 1,500 to 3,600 metres elevation. At lower elevations it is associated with trees in the genera Bejaria, Citharexylum, Clusia, Juglans, Ocotea, Oreopanax, and Weinmannia. At high elevations it grows in ridgetop plant communities dominated by ericaceous shrubs and species of Podocarpus.
The Latin specific epithet montana refers to mountains or coming from mountains.
